Coastal Currents Workshop - Basketry
COASTAL CURRENTS - THE ART OF NATURE IN THE HOME
BASKET WEAVING WORKSHOP
Wednesday 4th September, 6pm to 8.30pm | Cost: £35 | Host: Christiane Gunzi
Reste, 58 High Street, The Old Town, Hastings TN34 3EN
Join us for an evening of mindful weaving with natural willow, and a gentle introduction to the ancient heritage craft of basketmaking.
The evening will begin with a brief talk about willow, rush and other natural materials that are used in traditional basketry. You will be able to explore different materials as you start to do some weaving.
You will then be taught how to weave a simple, elegant ‘frame basket’ suitable for fruit, using a traditional weave in various tones of willow. This simple project is a very relaxing and enjoyable way to start basketweaving, and no previous experience is required.
Tickets include all materials plus a glass of wine, soft drinks and nibbles.
