Coastal Currents Workshop - Coiling With Clay
COASTAL CURRENTS - THE ART OF NATURE IN THE HOME
COILING WITH CLAY WORKSHOP
Tuesday 24th September, 6pm to 8pm | Cost: £35 | Host: Gary Edwards
Reste, 58 High Street, The Old Town, Hastings TN34 3EN
This workshop is ideal for beginners who want to learn the basics of pottery using the coiling technique. You will be taught how to hand build and decorate your own vase for fresh or dried flowers.
The evening will start with a brief introduction to handling clay and its properties and you will then be shown the technique of coiling. In addition to making you will be encouraged to decorate by impressing into your vase as you work. Please bring along dried or cut foliage which might be suitable; leaves, grasses, seed heads and even shells can all make good marks on clay.
You will aim to have one piece made and decorated which will then be left to dry before being fired. Gary will finish your work with a plain white glaze intended to highlight the patterns you make.
Please allow up to two weeks for your finished vase to be ready for collection from the shop.
Ticket includes all materials plus a glass of wine, soft drinks and nibbles.
