Founded in 1920 by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, the Leach Pottery is among the most respected and influential studio potteries in the world. Continuing Bernard’s legacy the studio based in St Ives continues to make handcrafted Leach Standard Ware using stoneware clay from Doble's claypit in St Agnes, Cornwall.
This small pourer has a Dolomite glaze, this creamy white glaze is named after the high percentage of the mineral dolomite in the mix. Iron in the clay body comes through, giving a hint of blue. During the firing, the amount of oxygen in the kiln's atmosphere is reduced and the flame pulls oxygen from the clay and glaze, infusing the glaze with deep, rich, iron tones.
Due to the unpredictability of the firing process and materials, all glaze finishes are unique and may vary slightly from that pictured.
