This vintage stoneware cup has a French rustic appeal. It was made in the 1970s in the Digoin region famous for its ceramics. With 40 ceramics manufacturers using the unique sandstone paste from the banks of the Loire, this part of Burgundy soon became nicknamed 'Ceramics Valley'. Today few manufacturers remain, making these little cups an important part of the history of French pottery.
As each cup is handmade, no two are the same and may have different markings in the glaze as you would expect.
